Diplomate (D-ABC)

A Diplomate Certificate of Professional Competency in Criminalistics is awarded to individuals with a BA/BS degree in a natural science who successfully complete one of the ABC certification examinations, have met the two year experience requirement. Diplomates have objectively demonstrated the ability to understand, manage and direct multidisciplinary casework in criminalistics. Individuals who have not met the experience requirement and pass one of the ABC certification examinations will be granted Affiliate status. Affiliates are not certified, but are certification eligible.

"Diplomate" can be a permanent status for those individuals not seeking "Fellow" status, such as laboratory directors and supervisors. Diplomate can also be a status for those individuals no longer doing proficiency testing in a specialty area.
