Appeals and Challenges

​ If you are in any of the following situations, you are welcome to file an appeal with the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC):
  • Applicant: if you have been denied permission to sit for an examination
  • Candidate: you failed a certification examination given by the ABC and you would like your examination rescored or examined (paper exams only)
  • ​​Certificant:
    • Your Recertification Points were denied
    • You failed to Recertify due to a lack of recertification points
    • Your certification  was placed on probation, suspended or revoked.

Effective January 1, 2022, all appeals will be filed electronically.  Appeals must be filed within 60 days of the postmark on the letter bearing the decision or the date of the email communication.​  If you need additional information or would like to better understand the ABC procedure for Appeals, please read the ABC Challenges and Appeals Procedure (09-09).
