NOTE:  THE ABC WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIMINALISTICS EXAMINATION AFTER JULY 1, 2023.

Any applicant with an active application for the Comprehensive Criminalistics Examination will still be able to take the examination until their application expires. If you wish to take the Foundational Knowledge Examination instead, please contact the Registrar's Office.

The Comprehensive Criminalist Examination is designed for a criminalist who has worked in the field of criminalistics for at least two years and who is authorized to perform casework in one or more specialty areas.  This examination covers a variety of forensic disciplines, with in-depth questions on each.  This examination is not specific to or weighted to any one specific specialty.

The examination consists of 200 questions, plus 20 pilot questions. A portion of these examination questions are general in nature while a portion are specific to a variety of different forensic disciplines.

The examination lasts up to 3 hours.
The job description, examination breakdown, sample questions, and a bibliography for this examination can be found in the Study Guide.
